What does your favorite city look like during coronavirus? These shelter in place drone videos can show you
Most of the world has chosen to stay at home amidst coronavirus. And as the earth’s population is under some degree of lockdown, social distancing, isolation, or self-quarantining, it has created a unique opportunity for drone pilots to document the changing world with shelter in place drone videos.
Pilots have taken the opportunity to shoot shelter in place drone videos, documenting an eerie new reality of otherwise bustling streets, freeways, city centers and tourism destinations that are now desolate ghost towns.
Drone video sharing site AirVuz rounded up the rare views in a page on their site.
The highlights all sit in one compilation video titled “Abandoned Streets,” which you can watch below.
Or, scroll by country to find a city you’d like to virtually see right now, via drone (more videos keep coming in via AirVuz’s site, so check there if you don’t see your city listed on this page yet).
And remember, it can be tempting to want to fly drones now more than ever that cities and popular tourist attractions are empty. If you shoot your own drone footage, make sure you practice social distancing rules and follow regulations in your city, such as staying away rom places you might typically fly like parks, that may actually be closed right now. Of course, follow all existing regulations (yep, that means you can’t fly over hotspots like Disneyland or National Parks without permission, even if no one is there).
