Cyber Monday is in full swing. Among the best 2021 Cyber Monday drone deals you can jump on now: $400 off the Skydio 2 drone, $300 off the DJI FPV Combo, $240 off the Adobe Creative Cloud software, more than $100 of Part 107 training, and so much more!!
Here are my favorite 2021 Cyber Monday drone deals:
The best 2021 Cyber Monday drone deals
This might be the year you finally swap your DJI drone for a new brand: Skydio. The California-based dronemaker’s incredible follow-me drone is finally(!) on sale. If you’re seeking a crash-proof, follow-me drone, there’s no better value at this price tag.
This sale isn’t tied specifically to Cyber Monday. In fact, Skydio has made it easy on us by offering this deal as part of its Skydio Holiday Promo, which launched at the beginning of November.
And not only is taking advantage of the deal easy, but it’s truly a deal. You’ll get $400 off, bringing its old $1,349 price tag down to just $949. Yep, that’s the lowest price we’ve seen for the Skydio 2 Starter Kit (which entails the drone plus accessories like an extra battery, custom-fitted hardshell case and two extra propellers).
The Skydio is easily the best follow-me drone for the price. My other favorite crash-proof drone is the DJI Mavic 3, which has a far superior camera — however it’s more than twice the cost. The Skydio 2 is only sold directly through Skydio (it’s not availble through any third-party sites). Jump on the the Skydio 2 Starter Kit sale here.
The DJI Mavic Mini is by far the best drone under $500. The video quality isn’t quite as good as what you’ll get on DJI’s best camera drones, but it’s still perfect if you’re primarily posting drone video to social media. This drone shoots 2.7K footage (which is less than the 4K you can expect on the newer model, the DJI Mini 2).
If you don’t need the full Combo version (you just want the DJI Mavic Mini drone and bare-bones accessories), it’s on sale on Amazon as well for just $299.
The DJI FPV drone is a super interesting and unique drone capable of combining the flight style and high speeds of drone racing with high-quality video footage. It can reach maximum speeds of 87 mph with a maximum acceleration of 0-62 mph in just two seconds. It’s also an intriguing drone for photographers because it also shoots 4K/60fps 120 Mbps footage (there’s also the option to film in 4x slow motion in 1080p and 120 fps).
The combo version of DJI FPV is on sale now including bundled goggles on B&H Photo for just $999 (normally $1,299, so $300 savings).
If you’re wanting to get into FPV freestyle, which is similar to drone racing but with a lot more tricks, consider the Diatone Roma L3 3″ Freestyle Quadcopter RTF w/ RunCam Nano 2. It’s on sale ahead of Cyber Monday from GetFPV for just $135, down from the usual $180 price tag.
This version also comes with the RunCam Nano 2, which is one of the world’s smallest and best racing cameras out there!
Cyber Monday deals on drones for kids
While these aren’t going to be the best drones ever, these low-cost drones are priced even lower for Cyber Monday. If you’re looking to get a gift for a budding dronie in your life, here are a couple great options.
Here’s a hilarious gift for kids: a cute, dinosaur-inspired flying helicopter/drone. While this should be operated under adult supervision, the drone is still easy to control through gestures. It doesn’t do a whole lot expect fly around, but it’s a pretty funny gift and is a low-cost entry to introduce your children to flight. Normally $20, it’s a great stocking stuffer at just $14.39. Amazon is also offering an additional 5% off coupon, netting you the dino drone for more than 30% off.
Like the dino drone, this is a sensor operated drone. What I love more about this one is the full propeller cage, which provides additional protection that this drone’s propellers might scrape up your walls (or you). The drone is controlled through 5 motion sensors and can also do 360° flip stunts.
Normally $26, it’s on sale on Amazon for $18.69.
Cyber Monday deals on drone accessories
Filming on one of DJI’s higher-end camera drones like the new DJI Mavic 3 requires the need for a beefy memory card such as the SanDisk 1TB Ultra UHS-I microSDXC Memory Card, is more than $100 off on B&H Photo right now, down to $137.99 (normally $239.99).
As far as storing all your footage post flight, you’re likely not going to want to keep it all on your computer — unless you’ve got a crazy powerful computer. In fact, fly drones as long as I have, and you’ll have far from enough storage to keep it on your computer. Instead, use an external hard drive.
The WD 14TB My Book Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive is normally $240, but is down to $130 for Cyber Monday on B&H Photo.
The Lowepro DroneGuard BP 250 Drone Backpack sale popped up on Black Friday and is still going on over on Amazon, where it’s down to $82.50 (normally $108).
Other Cyber Monday deals that drone pilots will love
Not every gift you give has to be some big, physical item that needs to be shipped, packaged and wrapped. Here are some other ideas for the drone pilot who might already have all the gear, but still wants a drone-adjacent gift.
Photo print (free at Walgreens!)
The best gift is completely free! And right now, Walgreens is offering one free 8×10 photo print when you use the promo code THANKFUL8X10 (normally $4). Get a print of your favorite drone images for the perfect gift that doesn’t cost you anything, doesn’t take up too much space, and is something that you can pretty much guarantee the recipient doesn’t already have.
iMovie is great and all, but for advanced editing, you’ll likely want to use Premiere. Then for your drone photo editing, there’s Lightroom and Photoshop. If you’re trying to spiff up your website, you may turn to Dreamweaver. All that to say, drone pilots who use drones for photography or videography will almost always require access to the Adobe Creative Cloud.
Even better, no worries about shipping or supply chain shortages on this one. You’ll get an email with a link and instructions for how to download it sent to your inbox within minutes.
Normally $600, it’s on sale for 40% off at just $360 over on Amazon.
Drone Pilot Ground School Part 107 test prep training
If you’re seeking to earn your drone pilot’s license (required for anyone flying drones commercially under FAA Part 107)e, you’ll have to pass a written Aeronautical Knowledge Test. To study for it, use the Drone Pilot Ground School online course.
Drone Pilot Ground School‘s Black Fly-Day sale has been ongoing for a couple weeks. Between now and Nov. 30, get $107 off its web course. (you’ll pay $192 rather than the usual $299 price tag).
FlytBase, which is a small, Silicon Valley-based company that makes remote drone operation and fleet management software, is offering a deal on many of its offerings. The FlytNow Auto+ Starter Kit is on sale for $399 (normally $999). Their subscription service, FlytNow Live, which enables operation management via the cloud is just $89 for a 12-month membership (normally $588). These software programs could be appealing to small business owners who fly commercial drone missions for work such as monitoring high-value assets or gaining information in emergency response situations.
