2024 drone events: the top drone conferences, expos and meetups next year

It’s not too early to start planning for this year’s drone events. Time to book those flights, and hotels, and secure those Early Bird ticket prices for the best 2024 drone events happening next year. 

Here are the top 2024 drone events we are looking forward to most at Drone Girl, in order of occurrence: 

FAA Drone and Advanced Air Mobility Symposium: July 30-August 1, 2024

Baltimore, Maryland

This year’s FAA Drone and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium will focus on integrating drones and air mobility like air taxis safely into the National Airspace System. The event will gather FAA representatives, government agencies, international aviation experts, industry leaders, and academia.

Discussions will cover regulatory and operational frameworks for advanced operations such as beyond visual line of sight and UAS Traffic Management. This year’s theme, Connected Skies / Connected Communities, will explore the transformation of aviation through sessions on eVTOL aircraft and more. Commercial UAV EXPO: September 3-4, 2024

Las Vegas, USA

 The Commercial UAV Expo is a global event for the commercial drone industry, hosted by Commercial UAV News. It focuses on the integration and operation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) across a variety now have market sectors, including construction, energy, and public safety. This expo offers attendees insights into the latest trends and technologies driving the UAS industry forward. Professionals from various industries gather here to explore new products, attend educational sessions, and network with leading experts in the field.

ICAO Advanced Air Mobility Symposium 2024: September 9-12, 2024

Montal, Canada 

Hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), this symposium focuses on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), showcasing existing technologies, ongoing research, and commercial activities in the rapidly evolving aviation sector.

Furthermore, this year’s theme is “Advance air mobility (AAM) global harmonization and interoperability: Challenges and Opportunities.”  Expect to see ongoing research, and development, as well as commercial and non-commercial activities in the rapidly evolving aviation industry sector. Interaerial Solutions: September 24-25, 2024

Berlin, Germany

Messe Stuttgart will host INTERGEO, or Interaerial Solutions, a global conference for geodesy, geoinformation, and land management. The event will feature 600 international brands and gather industry leaders, associations, and startups to discuss advancements and collaborations in the geospatial field. INTERGEO’s “Unmanned Systems” section will showcase the latest in unmanned technology across air, water, and ground applications, highlighting new workflows, use cases, and the market’s growing potential.

Air Taxi World Congress: Oct. 7-8, 2024

Dubai, UAE

The Air Taxi World Congress is an event for the air mobility industry, featuring a summit, exhibitions, and live air demonstrations. Key components include formal pre-scheduled buyer-seller meetings and exclusive showcases of eVTOL aircrafts through both live flights and static displays. The event also emphasizes networking, with dedicated spaces for investors and operators, and provides spaces to facilitate connections among global stakeholders in public, private, academic, and regulatory sectors.

ElevateUAV Summit: Oct. 8-10, 2024

Miami, Florida

Held at FIU Kovens Center, the ElevateUAV Summit is all about demos. After all, it’s hosted by DroneNerds, which is a top-tier drone dealer and drone repair business.

Dronitaly: Oct. 9-11, 2024

Bologna, Italy

Dronitaly is Italy’s primary exhibition focused on civil drones, targeting industry professionals with a dedicated PRO area and an extensive conference program. Since its inception in 2014, the event has centered around discussions and displays of civil drones and the integration of remotely piloted vehicles into airspace. It attracts drone professionals from across Europe and globally, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and advancements in drone technology.

Horizons (DroneDeploy Conference): Oct. 22-23, 2024

Scottsdale, Arizona

Though it was recently rebranded as Horizons, this is the 2024 edition of the annual DroneDeploy conference. This year’s conference focuses on how the reality capture industry can document the physical world using drones, robotics and AI. It’s held at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Attendance isn’t cheap. A full conference pass starts at $1,049, with up-charges for things like additional trainings or VIP access.

Global Drone Conference and Exhibition 2024: October 23-24, 2024

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Aerial Cities 2024: November 13-14, 2024

Aerial Cities is a C-level, invitation-only event targeting AAM and drone leaders, CAAs, city officials and service users. Its goal? To enhance communication between AAM drone industries and urban stakeholders, in an effort to foster collaboration to address the infrastructure needs for large-scale drone operations in cities.

CES 2024: January 9-12, 2024

Las Vegas, Nevada

Kickstarting the year with a bang is the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. While CES showcases a wide range of consumer technology products, it also offers drone manufacturers, developers, and suppliers a platform to display their latest offerings. Attendees can expect thrilling keynote speeches, product presentations, and networking opportunities with industry giants and innovators. UMEX and SimTEX 2024: January 22-25, 2024

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Next, the Middle East’s premier event for drones, robotics, components, and unmanned systems, UMEX, takes place in Abu Dhabi at the National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). With one day dedicated to keynote speakers and three days for exhibiting the latest technology, it’s an excellent opportunity to explore the latest advancements in the drone industry and witness the convergence of technology from various sectors.

NestGen 2024 Virtual Conference: February 24, 2024

Virtual

NestGen 2024 is a virtual drone autonomy conference, organized by FlytBase, Inc. This 11-hour event will offer a comprehensive platform to explore autonomous Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS) docked drone operations. Also, it’s an opportunity for global drone industry experts to converge for sessions on drone autonomy, featuring presentations from top companies like DJI Enterprise, Aerodyne, DroneDeploy, FEDS, and Volatus Aerospace. Flyability User Conference: March 6-8, 2024

Lausanne, Switzerland

Flyability’s 2024 User Conference will be hosted at the Hotel Alpha-Palmiers in Lausanne, Switzerland and is set to include keynote presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities — all primarily centered around its Elios 3 drone. Drone Responders National Public Safety UAS Conference 2024: March 12-13, 2024

Williamsburg, Virginia

Droneresponders is a non-profit organization focusing on drones for public safety and the organization puts on a two-day conference each year in Williamsburg, Virginia. The conference is best suited for aerial first responders, emergency managers,  search and rescue specialists, and anyone interested in using drones for public safety.

Amsterdam Drone Week 2024: April 16-18, 2024

Amsterdam Drone Week (ADW) is a global platform for sharing knowledge on aerial solutions, innovations, and regulations. It’s perfect for anyone looking to connect on an international scale with industry experts and explore the potential of drones in various applications, including inspection, emergency services, and urban mobility. Plus, it’s just a great excuse to get to Europe.

Last year, they had impressive speakers like Marc Allen of Boeing Company and Patrick Ky, Executive Director European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Find out more about ADW.

Law-Tech Connect Workshop 2024: April 22, 2024

San Diego, California

The Law-Tech Connect Workshop is a co-located event with AUVSI 2024 (the next entry in this guide). This workshop comes with an additional $299 fee (though just $249 if you register by March 8), but you’ll get an XPO Hall Pass for attending. That’s alongside other freebies like food and drinks throughout the day —— plus an invite to a pre-networking event the night before. Attorneys will also walk away with 8 CLE credits for attending.

AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2024: April 22-25, 2024

San Diego, California

Organized by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), XPONENTIAL is a massive tech conference dedicated to unmanned systems and robotics. With keynote speeches, workshops, and diverse pass options, it’s a must-attend event for anyone in the drone industry. 

There are a range of registration fees, certainly, depending on what type of pass is best for you, ranging from $1,725 to $199, with discounts for AUVSI Members.

Drone Safety Day: April 27, 2024

Nationwide

Drone Safety Day 2024 is a one-day, ‘holiday’ of sorts invented by the FAA. It’s designed to bring together drone pilots from all walks of life. That includes photographers, racers, first responders, mapping experts, Part 107 teachers and more. It’s all in the name of, well, drone safety.

Flyability North American UT Launch Event: May 1 and 2, 2024

Denver, Colorado

Flyability has long been known for its drones that thrive in tight spaces. And after launching their new ultrasonic thickness payload, the company will host a big launch party on May 1 to 2 to introduce it to the North American market.

The two-day event in Denver will give attendees a chance to see the new payload in person and ask the
Flyability team their questions. The agenda includes a product presentation along with an expert
panel including product advisors, further guest presentations by people passionate about the
Elios 3 as well as optional paid training with the new payload.

Azores Drone Photo Trip: May 4-10, or May 11-17, 2024

Azores, Portugal

Belgium-based, award-winning aerial photographer Johan Vandenhecke is hosting two separate, multi-day drone photo trips to Azores, a stunning archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands in the Macaronesia region of the North Atlantic Ocean.

This is the fourth annual iteration of the trip, which takes participants around some of the world’s greatest wonders and allows them to document it via drone. Additionally, in 2021, the group saw a pod of nine sperm whales, and in 2022 they saw a blue whale passing by and a big male sperm whale, who curiously meandered around the group’s boat for about 45 minutes.

The price starts at 2,500 euros for a 7-day stay, all-inclusive (in fact, you only need to pay for your flight there). Sign up now, because groups are kept intentionally small with just six spots available per week.

Japan Tech Tour: June 2024

Though leader, entrepreneur and drone expert, Dr. Caterine Ball and the team at World of Drones Education are planning a tech tour to Osaka, Tokyo, and Chilba. Southern California Drone Film Festival: June 7-8, 2024

Fullerton, California

The two-day Southern California Drone Film Festival is — at its heart — a film festival. But, it will also include tons more drone festivities including racing, drone soccer competitions, workshops, and the awards ceremony. Held in the historic town of Fullerton, it’s just up the street from the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland.

8th Annual Energy Drone and Robotics Summit: June 10-12, 2024

Houston, Texas

The largest event in the world for Robotics, Drones & Data/AI/ML, the Energy Drone & Robotics Summit is dedicated to uncrewed and autonomous systems in energy and industrial operations. With an impressive lineup of forums and workshops, this summit is a must-visit for professionals in the field.

There are eight forums/tracks, virtual and hybrid options, and three co-located workshops. Also, this is a massive Summit with something for everyone. Check out the lineup of events for 2024 here.
