DJI Airworks 2020 went entirely virtual. DJI Airworks 2021 was entirely nonexistent. But DJI Airworks 2022 is set to be back and in full form, with a IRL conference at a hot venue.
DJI announced the date and venue of its DJI Airworks 2022 conference: Monday, Oct. 10 through Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
AirWorks is DJI’s annual(ish) drone conference, which largely focuses on commercial drone applications. The conference hones in on a few specific industries, which are:
- AEC and Surveying
- Public Safety
- Drone Innovation (e.g. docks, new payloads, software solutions)
Among the highlights set for this year’s conference:
- A free welcome reception (which includes a raffle for the DJI Mini 3 Pro, plus other swag like tees).
- An outdoor demo area with products including the Matrice 30 and the DJI Dock.
- Speeches, workshops, breakout sessions and training.
In 2019, the last pre-pandemic year of conferences, DJI’s Airworks event brought 720 registrations from 31 difference countries. 127 speakers covered a combined 88 sessions.
This year’s event is set to have 48 breakout sessions plus 16 outdoor demonstrations.
How much does DJI Airworks 2022 cost? (Hint: less than half of past events’ registration fees)
Conference admission costs $299. You can register now, here.
Notably, there is no virtual component to this year’s event. That contrasts with the entirely-virtual 2020 DJI Airworks conference, as well as other conferences that have hybrid in-person versus virtual options, where typically keynotes and other panels are live-streamed and accessible to viewers at home for a significantly reduced rate. The DJI Airworks conference was entirely viewable for a fraction of this year’s in-person dues, starting at just $35.
That said, the $299 registration fee for DJI Airworks 2022 is quite low relative to other drone conferences — and relative to past years’ of DJI Airworks. Seemingly the 2022 inflation has had the opposite effect on this drone conference.
Before COVID-19 was known, the DJI AirWorks conference was set to be an in-person event with tickets costing $749 per attendee. This year’s $299 registration fee is less than half that, though it matches the registration fees seen back in 2017. It’s also far less than the conference pass for the Commercial UAV Expo. That event, which will be held just about a month prior from Sept. 6-8, 2022 (also in Vegas!) costs a whopping $850 for advance, full conference pass purchases.
What about the conference hotel?
DJI is also offering attendees access to a discounted rate through its room block at The Mirage Hotel & Casino, starting at $168 per night plus tax.
