SkyPixel 7th Anniversary drone art contest now accepting entries
If you’ve got stunning drone photography or videography, now is the time to show it off. The entry window for the SkyPixel 7th Anniversary Aerial Photo & Video Contest is now open.
SkyPixel, which is an online community for drone artists and is affiliated with DJI, is now seeking entries for the latest iteration of its contest. You have until February 21, 2022 to submit your work in any of SkyPixel’s six video categories or four photography categories (10 categories total).
This is the seventh iteration of the contest, which is run in conjunction with drone maker DJI. Since its inception, SkyPixel has attracted over 30 million aerial photographers, videographers and content creators from more than 140 countries. SkyPixel says some of its leading works have received over 1 million views.
What’s more, you don’t necessarily have to have made your aerial art on a DJI drone to be able to enter the contest.
“There is no restriction on the type or brand of drones used and participants can submit as many photos or videos as they wish,” according to a statement from DJI.
That says, there is one category that requires a DJI drone — and a specific DJI drone at that. This year’s contest includes a “Mavic 3 Limited Award,” which will be awarded to one photography winner and one video winner who shot their pieces on a DJI Mavic 3. The award is presumably to build hype around DJI’s newest product, the DJI Mavic 3, which launched toward the end of 2021.
If you win theMavic 3 Limited Award, you’ll get to choose a prize of any DJI product that costs less than $6,000.
The judges for 2022’sSkyPixel 7th Anniversary Aerial Photo & Video Contest include Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Alex Mellis, Pieter de Vries, Stefan Foster, Karim Iliya, and Yunshan Yu. This year’s 10 categories are:

What are the SkyPixel 7th Anniversary Aerial Photo & Video Contest prizes?
There’s a lot of money at stake (in the form of DJI coupons) plus tons more free stuff to be won. DJI says there will be 54 awards given out in total, worth roughly a combined $100,000. The grand prize in each photo and video category is a $7,500 DJI coupon. That’s enough to net you two DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combos. Or, perhaps you get a fancy DJI Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo for you, plus a standard DJI Mavic 3 for your friend (or to keep for yourself as backup).
Other award categories will dole out specific prizes, including the DJI Mavic 3, DJI Air 2S Fly More Combo, DJI RS 2 Pro Combo, DJI Action 2 Dual-Screen Combo, among other goodies up for grabs.
That said, good luck winning. When Skydio hostedits 6th annual aerial photo and video contest in 2020, the contest garnered more than 30,000 submissions within just two months.
