The DJI Mavic 3 is now available for purchase, and — in most ways — it’s DJI’s best drone yet. Between the incredible 46-minute battery life, the dual-camera system and the nearly crash-proof sense-and-avoid system, it’s tough to find a better all-around great drone than this one. I imagined to get my hands on DJI’s newest drone. In this DJI Mavic 3 unboxing video, I break down the specs and show you what’s inside:
The Mavic 3 comes in three configurations, ranging in price from $2,199 to $4999. In this DJI Mavic 3 unboxing video, I show you what’s inside the middle-tier configuration (and likely what’ll be most popular), the $2,999 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo.
Here’s what’s in the box of the $2,999 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo:
- Mavic 3 drone
- 3 Intelligent Flight Batteries
- 3 RC-N1 Cables
- Battery Charger
- Battery Charging Hub
- Storage Cover
- 6 Propeller pairs
- 2 Control Stick pairs
- ND Filters Set (ND4\8\6\32)
- Convertible Carrying Bag (can be converted between shoulder bag and backpack configurations)

You’ll see me unpack those items in the DJI Mavic 3 unboxing video above. But how does the DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo compare to the other two figurations? See how they all stack up:

As far as the standouts for me in the Mavic 3 Fly More Combo, well, here goes:
Convertible Carrying Bag
This is the first thing you’ll see when you open the box of your Fly More Combo. This convertible carrying bag is made of super durable materials: a sturdy, thick fabric for most of it, as well as a harder material at the bottom (presumably to make it easy to wipe off dirt from when you set it down). The design is excellent in that you can go from a backpack to a shoulder bag configuration easily. I’d typically go for the backpack as I am typically out drone-ing on a hike, but you could move it to a shoulder bag for weekend trips or at events.
Aside from the DJI logo, the bag doesn’t scream ‘drone bag’, which is a good thing. I might even use it to tote around my laptop for work or clothes on a getaway — even (gasp!) sans drone.
DJI Mavic 3 Storage Cover
Rather than the old, small clear covers that could mount on your camera to protect the gimbal and camera itself while in storage or transportation mode, the improved DJI Mavic 3 Storage Cover looks to be more protective. It is much bigger while still being lightweight and minimalist. And with that bigger design, it can protect not just the camera but also the gimbal and propellers.
Take off that storage cover to reveal not one, but two cameras underneath. This dual-camera system entails both a 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera with a 24mm prime lens, and a 28x hybrid zoom camera. It can shoot 20MP still images in 12-bit RAW format and videos in 5.1K at 50fps, 4K at 120fps.
That’s not the only reason why the Mavic 3 is the ultimate camera drone for photographers and videographers. A native dynamic range of 12.8 stops helps retain more details in highlights and shadows, while an adjustable aperture of f/2.8-f/11 opens up more options no matter what sort of complicated lighting scenario you may find yourself in. And expect vibrant colors as well as more flexibility in post-production, thanks to the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS), which captures up to 1 billion colors via its 10-bit D-Log color profile.
Do I even need three batteries?! The Mavic 3’s redesigned batteries provide up to 46 minutes of flight time each. I’ve got three of them. That’s about two hours and 20 minutes of flight time between all these little guys! So. Much. Flying Time.
Battery Charging Hub
To charge your three batteries simultaneously, the Fly More Combo gives you more than just the single battery charger on the base kit. With this, you can charge three batteries at once.
You ca’t ignore this drone’s six fish-eye vision sensors and two wide-angle sensors, which can continuously sense obstacles in all directions and plan safe flight routes to avoid them – even in complicated environments.
The original DJI Phantom 4 only had an obstacle avoidance sensor in the front. This puts DJI in competition with the Skydio 2, which previously held a huge edge for its significantly-better obstacle avoidance tech. Now the DJI Mavic 3 takes away one of the few, sole standout qualities away from one of its top competitors.
Those are the standout features to me in my initial DJI Mavic 3 unboxing, but of course there’s tons more that goes into DJI’s newest drone. Check out my complete guide to the DJI Mavic 3 here.
