Submit your nominations for the 2020 Women to Watch drone awards

It’s that time of year: time to submit an up-and-coming star in the drone industry for the 2020 Women to Watch in UAS awards.

The annual Women to Watch in UAS awards program is put on by online drone community Women and Drones. The pool of nominees comes from you.

Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Education: the nominee must be a K-12 grade educator
  • Entrepreneurship: the nominee must be the founder of the business or have been critical to its growth
  • Leadership: this is the most open-ended of all the categories
  • Public Safety/Service: the nominee must be an employee or official volunteer of a public safety organization, either using drones or working to develop them for public safety or service

And new for 2020, Woman and Drones introduced two new co-ed, team awards to “acknowledge organizations/companies that, in their pursuit of excellence, embrace diversity and have a culture of inclusiveness where women are engaged in key roles on their team and/or in leadership positions.”

The Team Award categories are:

  • Humanitarian
  • Innovation

To submit a 2020 Women to Watch in UAS nominee, fill out the application form here by May 14, 2020. While you may nominate a woman in multiple categories, each nomination requires completion of a separate entry form.

As has been the tradition for a few years now, honorees will be announced at the annual Interdrone conference, which is open to all conference attendees with Expo Plus and full conference passes who have pre-registered.

This year’s Interdrone is scheduled for August 2020 in an all-new location. While historically the conference has been held in Vegas, this year’s event will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, Texas.

Although travel schedules are a bit tenuous given coronavirus — assuming shelter in place orders are removed by then — August is set to be an incredibly busy month for the drone industry. The annual AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020 conference, originally set for May in Boston, has been postponed until August 10-12. And DJI’s own conference, DJI Airworks, is set to take place in LA from August 25-27.

2020 marks the 4th iteration of the Women to Watch awards. Here’s a complete list of 2019’s winners2018’s winners, and 2017’s (the inaugural year).
