The DJI Osmo Pocket is a teeny, tiny, gimbal camera that shoots 4K footage, and it’s only a few hundred dollars.
The Chinese manufacturer known for its drones, including the Mavic, Phantom and Spark, today launched the DJI Osmo Pocket. The Osmo is a lineup of 3-axis gimbal stabilized handheld cameras, bringing that cinematic, smooth look you get from drones to footage you shoot on the ground. And with the Osmo Pocket, you get that same camera, but in a package so tiny that it literally fits in your pocket.
Here are some of the DJI Osmo Pocket specs:
- 1/2.3-inch sensor
- 80° FOV
- f/2.0 aperture
- Shoots 4K/60fps video at 100 Mbps
- Shoots photos at 12 MP with a pixel size of 1.55 μm for footage
- 140 minute maximum battery life
And seriously, look how small it is:

Like DJI’s drone cameras, the Osmo Pocket also has various “shooting modes,” including ActiveTrack (the camera stays fixed on a particular subject), Motionlapse (adds smooth camera movement to a timelapse) and FPV mode (follows the gimbal’s orientation).
The DJI Osmo Pocket also has some other cool features, including a universal port to connect the camera to your smartphone and a noiseless cooling system.
With the launch of the DJI Osmo Pocket also comes a new line of accessories, including ND Filters designed for the Pocket, a waterproof case and a charging case that can protect AND charge your gimbal simultaneously. There’s also an adapter to allow you to connect an external microphone to the Osmo.
With the launch of the new, adorably tiny gimbal, DJI also launched “DJI Mimo,” an app designed to aid in your Osmo usage with editing tools, templates and access to a content-sharing community.
The DJI Osmo Pocket is the latest in an already full lineup of handheld, stabilized gimbal products. DJI first launched its original Osmo back in October 2015, and later added other sister products, such as the Osmo Mobile, a cheaper version of the Osmo that relied on your smartphone to provide the camera rather than an internal camera. Other sister products include the Osmo+, which added a zoom camera.
The DJI Osmo Pocket will cost $349 and is available for pre-order here. Pre-orders will start shipping on Dec. 15.
