DJI Mavic 2 drone finally has a new launch date after product leak
It has been a rocky road for the Mavic 2, but it seems the day is upon us when we’ll see it — officially.
DJI had set a date for a new product launch on July 18, but then called the event off so “we can deliver according to our standard of innovation,” according to a statement from DJI.
While the Internet was abound with leaked images of what could only be the Mavic 2, it became official after a U.K.-based catalog published with an advertisement for the Mavic 2.

“Of all places to confirm the Mavic 2 its Argos UK – 2 additions being released Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic 2 Pro (1″ CMOS sensor) — both 31 mins of flight time, 8km range and 1080P live video transmission,” Brett Thake tweeted.
The embargo break by a print catalog of all things forced DJI to officially confirm the Mavic 2’s existence.
“This pre-printed catalog was planned before we postponed our See the Bigger Picture event to guarantee our customers high-quality, state-of-the-art technology in line with our standard of innovation,” according to a statement from DJI. “This hasty look alludes to the many exciting features and capabilities that DJI will be announcing at the right time, and we look forward to giving our fans an amazing drone experience as soon as we can.”
The new launch event is set for Thursday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. ET.
So what can we expect from the Mavic 2? According to the Argos catalog leak, the drone will offer features including 45mph flight speeds, 31-minute battery life, 360-degree collision detection and five mile transmission distance.
There are still some unknowns about the drone that are still under speculation. The catalog indicates there are at least 2 versions of the drone — the Mavic 2 Zoom and the Mavic 2 Pro — and there could be a third. It’s also unclear what the drone’s price will be.
But this much is clear. If you’re looking to get a deal on the Mavic Pro, now seems to be the time.
Alert alert! The DJI Mavic Pro's price has dropped to $786 (normally $999)! https://t.co/XSKP9b6aYg I haven't seen a deal this good in a while…
