Before you grab your drone and fly this weekend, here’s some drone photo inspiration.
Aerial photography community SkyPixel shared the front-runners in its 2017 SkyPixel Photo Storytelling Contest, and they’re a pretty clear indication that the competition will be tough this year.
The SkyPixel Photo contest is accepting entries for this year’s competition through Dec. 29. To enter, photographers need to submit an aerial image taken via drone anytime in 2017 to any of three categories — landscape, portrait or story. The winner will walk away with up to $15,000 in prizes, including a DJI Inspire 2 Premium Combo, Nikon D750 Body + 24-70 mm VR 2.8 Lens, a DJI Mavic Pro Fly More Combo, DJI Spark and more.
Every year it seems the competition just gets tougher and tougher, as photographers are forced to rely not just on “pretty landscapes” but also looking for interesting patterns, paying attention to light and color, and capturing the unique shapes in the ground.
